Moving to another reseller
What happens when another reseller asks to look after your Footer365 account, how to approve or decline it, when you move, and how billing is shared between the two.
If you want a different reseller to look after your Footer365 account, ask them to add your organisation in their reseller portal. Because you already use Footer365, that does not set you up again: it sends you a request to approve. This page explains what happens next.
Your signatures, templates, rules and settings carry on exactly as they are throughout. Nothing about how your email works changes.
When a reseller asks
Your account owner is emailed that the reseller has asked to look after your account. If you have no account owner with an email address, your technical contact is emailed instead. The email does not let you answer: a Super Admin answers in the portal, signed in with Microsoft, so an email that reaches the wrong person cannot be used to move your account.
- In the portal, go to Account, then Settings. While a request is open, a Moving to another reseller card shows Answer needed.
- Select View the request. Only a Super Admin sees this button; anyone else is told a Super Admin can view and answer it.
- Read what the move means, then select Approve the move or Decline.
You have seven days to answer. After that the request lapses and nothing changes. If you decline, nothing changes either.
If your reseller or Footer365 is working in your portal on your behalf, they can see the request but cannot answer it. Only your own Super Admin can.
After you approve
Whoever looks after your account now is asked when their service to you ends, and has 14 days to answer. They can choose the end of this billing month, the end of next month, or the end of your committed term. They can also ask for another date with a reason, which Footer365 reviews, and Footer365's decision is final.
If they do not answer in time, their service ends after the next full month's billing. For example, if you approve on 2 October, you move at the end of November and your new reseller looks after you from 1 December.
If Footer365 bills you directly with no reseller, there is nobody else to ask: you move on the first of the month after you approve.
You are emailed the date once it is settled. Until then, the Moving to another reseller card shows Under way.
If you owe Footer365 money
If Footer365 bills you directly and any of your invoices are past their due date, the move waits until they are paid. It then goes ahead without anything more from you. If they are not paid within 30 days of your approval, the request is closed. See Missed payments.
If you are in a committed term
If you are part-way through a 12, 24 or 36 month term, you stay with your current reseller until it ends, unless they agree to release you sooner. If they release you early, the term carries on with your new reseller.
If they will not release you early, you are emailed, and you can ask Footer365 to look at it, for example because your seats have changed a great deal since the term began:
- Go to Account, then Settings, and select View the request.
- Under Your committed term, say why the move should not wait for the end of your term.
- Select Ask Footer365 to review.
Until Footer365 decides, you move on the date already set. Its decision is final.
How billing is shared
Every day is billed once, to whichever of the two looks after you that day. Your current arrangement is billed up to and including its last day, and your new reseller from the day after. If a month was already invoiced in advance, the days after the move are credited back to whoever paid for them.
On the day you move
Your new reseller looks after your account from that day. The contact details they entered when they asked are applied then, and not before.
Your history before the move stays yours. Your new reseller sees your audit log only from the day you move, both in their own portal and when working in yours. You still see all of it.
Your new reseller cannot work in your portal until you allow it. See Working with a reseller.
