An Exclaimer alternative for Microsoft 365, priced in pounds

Footer365 is a UK email signature service for Microsoft 365 (Office 365). It adds signatures to outgoing mail server-side, through Exchange Online, so they appear on every device. Its prices are published in GBP from a single seat, and it imports the signature you already have. This page compares it with Exclaimer like for like, from Exclaimer's own pages.

Why teams move

Why organisations look for an Exclaimer alternative

Exclaimer is well known. The reasons administrators look elsewhere are what it costs, what each plan leaves out and how hard it is to leave, and each of these comes from Exclaimer's own pages.

The renewal price can rise

Exclaimer's knowledge base lists "an annual price increase" among the things that may affect a renewal quote (Exclaimer renewal process). A Footer365 term's price is fixed until it ends.

Cancelling needs 30 days' notice

A cancellation must be requested ahead of the renewal date in line with a 30-day notice period, and is processed by hand by its renewals team (Exclaimer renewal process). A Footer365 term can be stopped from renewing in the portal at any time up to its last day.

There is a 10-user minimum

A smaller team pays for 10 (Exclaimer pricing). Footer365 is sold from 1 seat, with every feature.

Campaigns and analytics cost more

Exclaimer's Starter has no campaign scheduling, and the usage dashboard, HRIS integration and audit log are on Pro only. Footer365 has one plan, with banner campaigns and click analytics for everyone.

Leaving means rebuilding

Exclaimer's cloud editor exports a signature only as an .ExSig2 file, which no other product can read (Exclaimer knowledge base). Footer365 imports the HTML from an email Exclaimer has signed, and converts its merge fields.

Which suits you

Exclaimer or Footer365?

Choose Exclaimer if

  • you also sign mail from Google Workspace or Exchange Server: Footer365 works with Microsoft 365 only
  • you already use Exclaimer and it does everything you need

Choose Footer365 if

  • you want banner campaigns and click analytics for less: Footer365 costs 52 to 70 per cent less than Exclaimer Pro at every size in the price table below
  • you want every feature in one plan: campaign scheduling, click analytics and A/B tests for every user, where Exclaimer keeps analytics and A/B tests for Pro
  • you have fewer than 10 people: Footer365 starts at 1 seat, with every feature
  • you want your price fixed for the 12, 24 or 36-month term you choose, not set by a renewal quote that may include an annual price increase
  • you want to stop a renewal at any time up to its last day, with no 30-day notice period and no wait for a renewals team
  • you want click counts you can trust, with the security scanners that open links to check them left out
  • you want to keep your signature: Footer365 imports its HTML and converts Exclaimer's merge fields, where Exclaimer exports only its own .ExSig2 format
  • you want a 30-day trial rather than 14

Cost per year for each number of users, on a 12-month term, excluding VAT. Footer365 includes banner campaigns and click analytics for every user, so the fair comparison for it is Exclaimer Pro; Exclaimer Standard has campaigns without the analytics. At these sizes Footer365 is 52 to 70 per cent below Exclaimer Pro's published UK price.

Per user per month, Exclaimer is £0.70, £0.95 and £1.35, billed annually. Footer365's full curve, including the monthly option and the further 5% and 10% off for two and three-year terms, is on the pricing page.

Two things can change the result. Footer365 bills every user mailbox in your directory, so if you only sign some of them, count them all. And these are first-year prices: Exclaimer's renewal quote may include an annual price increase, while a Footer365 term's price is fixed until it ends.

Moving across

How to move from Exclaimer

Exclaimer goes on signing everyone until you switch it off, so there is no gap in your signatures. The full checklist is in Switching from another signature service.

1

Note your renewal date

Exclaimer needs a cancellation request 30 days before it, so put that date in the diary first.

2

Start a trial and connect

A Global Administrator approves Footer365 once; setup creates its own connectors and mail flow rule.

3

Bring your signature across

Exclaimer cannot export HTML, so take it from an email Exclaimer has signed and import it; see Import a signature from another provider.

4

Pilot with a small group

Try it while Exclaimer still signs everyone else. Take the pilot group out of Exclaimer's rules if you can, or they see two signatures until you switch over.

5

Cut over

Remove Exclaimer's rules, connectors and add-in in one sitting, so nobody is signed twice.

Questions

Questions people ask

Will mail stop while we switch?

No. Connecting Footer365 changes nothing until you add a signature rule, and Exclaimer goes on signing everyone until you turn it off. The usual risk is the opposite one: anyone both products cover gets two signatures, which is why the cut-over is done in one sitting.

What happens to our mail if Footer365 is down?

Exchange Online holds the mail and retries it, so it arrives late rather than being lost. If your account is paused or switched off, mail goes out without a signature rather than being rejected. See What happens to mail during an outage.

Do signatures appear in Sent Items?

Only through the Outlook add-in. A signature added server-side is added after the message leaves Outlook, so the sender's copy does not show it. See I cannot see my signature while writing.

How quickly do directory changes reach signatures?

Footer365 copies changes from Microsoft 365 every four hours, and you can sync at any time from the portal. See How directory sync works.
